Image work is an essential component to researching and/or producing a play. Here I've put together two collections of images inspired by the text of Water by the Spoonful, divided into the categories of concrete and atmospheric images. Concrete images are images that come directly from references within the play to places, objects, and themes. In the case of this play, that could include images of the El Yunque Rain Forest in Puerto Rico (above), and the El Barrio neighborhood in North Philadelphia. Atmospheric images evoke the world of the play through a little more artistic license. They include any image that evokes the world of the play thematically and metaphorically in the eyes of the dramaturg.
